Professional Learning Teams

From content to school wide planning, our educators are dedicated to creating a learning environment where ALL learners can strive. Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) allow educators to model experimentation and learning. As professionals, we are an organization of learners, constantly seeking growth and improvement.

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

At DCHS, student support is a shared responsibility across our school teams.

While teachers address student needs within their weekly Professional Learning Teams (PLTs), our School Improvement Team (SIT) looks at schoolwide data to identify trends and areas where additional support may be needed.

The Guiding Coalition then helps ensure that action steps are implemented consistently and aligned with our overall school goals.

In simple terms:

  • PLTs respond to individual student needs in classrooms.

  • SIT looks at patterns across the school.

  • The Guiding Coalition ensures plans are carried out effectively.

Together, these teams create a coordinated system of support that is proactive, structured, and focused on helping every student succeed.

The primary focus of PLTs is to engage in continuous improvement through the PLC cycle, guided by the four DuFour questions:

1. What do we ensure our students know and are able to do?

2. How will we know when they get it?

3. What will we do for students who have not gotten it?

4. What will we do for students who have gotten it?

Our Professional Learning Teams

Content PLTs

Our teachers meet weekly (on Friday mornings) in Content PLTs to plan lessons, review student progress, and share strategies to improve learning. By working together, they ensure instruction is clear, consistent, and focused on helping every student grow.

In simple terms, PLTs help us ask: How can we work together to better support student learning?

Guiding Coalition

The Guiding Coalition helps turn those plans into action. This team works to make sure improvement efforts are carried out thoughtfully and consistently across the school.

In simple terms, the Guiding Coalition helps us ask: How do we follow through and make sure our plans truly help students?

School Improvement Team (SIT)

The School Improvement Team looks at how our school is doing and helps identify where we can grow. By reviewing student progress and school data, the team helps set priorities and recommend steps to make learning even stronger for our students.

In simple terms, SIT helps us ask: What’s working well, and where can we improve?

Targeted Support & Improvement Additional Targeted Support | TSI-AT | English y Español
TSI identifies schools with one or more subgroups that have consistently failed to meet expected growth.  As one of many TSI schools in Davie County and North Carolina, Davie County High must make stakeholders aware of our status and update our community on the steps we are taking to help our struggling learners. The below letter will provide more information.  Hard copies of the letters are available in the office upon request.
