Driver Education is not mandated by the school and participation is voluntary.  The state of North Carolina does require it for anyone younger than 18 who wishes to be licensed to drive.  Students cannot take the class until they are at least 14 1/2 and we are not certified to drive with students older than 18.

The fee for Driver Education is $65.  This fee must be submitted at the Parent/Student meeting which is the start of the online course.  We take cash or checks (no cards).  Checks should be made out to Davie High School. No refunds will be issued for Driver Education fees.

If a student is removed from the class for not meeting deadlines or expectations then they will have one more opportunity to take the class. If they are removed a second time they will no longer be allowed to take driver education through DCS.

 DRIVING

After successfully completing the online course and before they are eligible to try for their permit at the DMV, students must log in-car hours with a certified driver education instructor.

Unfortunately, there is no way to predict when a specific student will be contacted to drive. There is a list of local private driving schools on this site.
