Principal's Letter
July 2021

Mr. Michael Pruitt, Principal, Davie County High School

Greetings, War Eagle Family!

I am pleased and excited to return to Davie High as your new principal. As we all know too well, the past year has been a difficult one for everyone involved in education – students, parents, teachers, staff, and administration – but I truly believe we grow through crisis. This year has opened new avenues and created new opportunities to better serve the students and community of Davie High School, and I can’t wait to get started.

Over the past seven years, Mr. Nicholson and the family here at Davie High have built upon a rich legacy of innovation and success that has laid a foundation for continued growth. Davie High has a deep history of academic achievement, but we are also known for our whole-school program, which includes award winning band and choral programs, robust dance and theatre arts opportunities, and an outstanding visual arts department. To the students whose reason for coming to school are the arts, you will have a friend in me as your principal.

Our JROTC program molds the leaders of tomorrow, and our CTE program empowers the entrepreneurs of the future. Maintaining and building these programs are vital to our mission at Davie High.

Our STEM Center model is recognized by the state as an outstanding opportunity for our students, and I look forward to working with teacher leaders in that department to increase opportunity and build partnerships.

Outside of the classroom, Davie High has a strong legacy of success in athletics, and I am looking forward to continuing a focus on growing student athletes into well rounded citizens dedicated to fair play and excellence.

The Davie community has given this school an amazing amount of support, and they have entrusted us with their greatest treasure. They expect Davie County High School, the only comprehensive high school in the district, to be second to none. I look forward to working with this dedicated group of educators and this administrative team to build on our traditions and make good on those investments. In the years to come, the DCHS community will work tirelessly to build a stronger, better, and more responsive future for Davie High.  As War Eagles, we will all rise together.

Thank you.

Michael E. Pruitt, Ed. S.
